I am currently leading My First Skool at Blk 681A Jurong West as a Principal. During my 6 years of teaching and mentoring experience, I presented in PERCERA conference held in Australia in 2016. It helped strengthen the ground work in delivering quality curriculum to the young children under my care.
A recent overseas learning trip in Beijing also broaden my perspective on how I can be creative in teaching and mentoring teachers, so that they can deliver more holistic curriculum.
I strongly believe that there is no fixed or best method to teach in early years education. Given that if a child can’t learn the way we teach, may-be we should teach how they learn, it is with constant improvisations and adaptations that improves how a child learns. This motto gave me an open mind in contextualizing theories to facilitate how children learn and how our teachers teach.
Today, our centre has great initiatives such as integrating technology into daily lessons, parental engagement programmes and community partner- ships with NTUC nursing home and primary schools. They are incorporated to enrich our children’s learning and to cater to different learning styles of the children.
