I joined My First Skool at Blk 49 Whampoa South early this year 2019, bringing with me more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education.
Inspired by Nelson Mandela, who once said, “history will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children”, it ignites my passion to see Early Childhood sector as one vibrant and dynamic place for teachers to make a difference in the lives of children. Through carefully designed classroom space and child related curriculum, children go through activities in a fun and safe environment. It is important to balance enriched academic experience and social interaction as it would build self-confidence and social courtesy and grace as core skills for children.
Whampoa South has also been actively participating in various community projects like Start Small Dream Big, an initiative by ECDA to help children understand good moral values and inculcate positive behaviours. We were awarded with several Innovation Grants to embark on projects to enhance teachers’ competencies to facilitate children’s learning. Other community collaboration includes Primary Schools, National Library, to name a few.
Having been awarded SPARK Certification since 2016, our centre continues to uphold industry leading preschool quality standards. My aspiration is to provide all children with a solid foundation to become positive life-long learners and leaders of tomorrow as Aristotle said, “those who know, do; those who understand, teach”.
