I joined My First Skool at Blk 208B Punggol Place in 2016 bringing with me more than 16 years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
During my years in teaching and being a leader, holding a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education), I noticed the changing nature of Early Childhood Education and its organizational context. Using a quote by Jim Henson, people don’t remember what you try to teach them. They remember what you are; inspires me to change the traditional concept of a leader who dictates; to one who role models and displays an unflagging energy to improve things and seek creative challenges to grow from experience.
I continue to mentor teachers in building strong understanding of ECCE pedagogy which greatly impacts children’s learning. I create many intentional opportunities for professional sharing and collaboration, in centre and beyond centre for stronger children and teacher outcomes. I take great pride in my team work and commitment and felt a great sense of achievement when we were awarded SPARK Certification in 2017 and also received good testimonials from stakeholders over the years.
The team has established a Parent Support Group since 2017 and we are heartened by the active participation and involvement of our parents. It certainly motivates us to do even more meaningful work for the betterment of our own professionalism and all the stakeholders. As a strategic leader, I view every day as a journey of exploration and reflection. With a growth mindset, I seek every opportunity for continuous improvements.
