I have led My First Skool at 164 Rivervale Crescent since February 2017. Over the past 9 years, it has been an enriching professional experience stepping into different roles progressively from a Teacher to a Senior Teacher and ultimately embarking on the leadership path from a Deputy Centre Lead to be a Principal. Besides graduating with a Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Education, to deepen my knowledge in the fields of child development and early education, I had completed my postgraduate studies and was conferred a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education awarded by Wheelock College, Boston.
Under my leadership, my centre had attained the SPARK Certification in providing good quality preschool education and also awarded Platinum Tier in Health Promotion Board’s Healthy Pre-school Accreditation in serving healthy meals to children. In line with promoting holistic education and preparing children for primary school, the centre had introduced the Mimamoru Approach where we believe that children have innate capabilities to perform tasks on their own.
The centre also established community partnerships with National Library Board to develop early literacy in children, St Luke’s Eldercare for intergenerational programmes where children learn respect and care with elderlies, NParks for enhancing greenery in our city, Health Promotion Board in promoting children’s well-being.
I believe that children are active learners, with their sense of wonder, they learn meaning and purpose in life through experiential connections to the community, to the natural world, and developing humanitarian values such as compassion and peace. My team and I remain committed to serving our children and their families.
