My interest in early childhood education started at an early age. I joined My First Skool 5 years ago and was working with private childcare organization for 20 years.
While working in early childhood industry, I studied and identified how I could support children in active learning. I took up my degree in Early Childhood Education and currently attending Professional Development Programme (PDP) for Leaders with ECDA. I am proud to share that my centre has also attained SPARK Commendation!
My centre has the opportunity in taking part in several projects and initiatives which has provided many learning beyond the classroom experience for the children under our care. We partner NTUC Health Geylang East Nursing Home for Intergeneration Programme where children are given opportunity to visit the residents weekly to develop values of caring, empathy and respect for seniors.
This year, we have also embarked in Community Gardening with Geylang East Residence Committee. The focus varies widely, but they are all contributing to the goal of active and self-managing learners. Much of this work is new and has long term impact in the children’s learning. Our main aim is about providing children with challenging, exciting and different experiences to help them learn.
I feel completely accomplished of my dreams that I had in the past and am proud to say that I am a member of the My First Skool network, who had supported me to realise my dreams. Though there are many more extra miles I need to travel, I know my passion for children will stay with me, and I will continue to strive to support our children and their families.
