Being one of the pioneer teachers in My First Skool at Blk 1 Bedok South back in 2012, it had been an honour to be given the opportunity to continue to lead this centre today. For the past 7 years, watching the children grow and develop under our care, never fail to amaze me. Being able to witness their milestones, from learning to walk and talk, to being able to speak with confidence at their graduation concert is truly heartwarming and satisfying.
I’ve always believed that as educators, we play an important role in nurturing children with good values such as being kind, respectful, thoughtful and many more. To further cultivate these values in our young children, our centre has been collaborating with NTUC Health Senior Day Care (Chai Chee) since 2017. Every week, our K1 and K2 children interacts with the seniors through meaningful activities such as playing simple gross motor activities, traditional games, craft work and many more.
At BC3, we also strongly believe that parents are our partners in helping to shape and mould the lives of our young children. Therefore, we often involve and encourage parents’ participation in centre events, workshops and fieldtrips.
Last year, we invited our K1 parents to our 1st Inquiry Project mini-showcase. Our K1 children had the opportunity to present their learning to their parents. Our parents visited different booths and asked questions to the children. Through these activities, we hope to build better home-school partnership with our parents.
