My career in My First Skool began in 2011 and throughout the 12 years, I am grateful for the meaningful opportunities to serve children and families from diverse backgrounds.
Prior to leading the team at Blk 85 Whampoa Drive, I spent many fulfilling years as an educator, supporting and leading different centre-based ECDA Innovation projects. In 2016, I was nominated and awarded the ECDA Professional Development Programme. I was also shortlisted as one of the finalists for ECDA Outstanding Teacher Award in 2019.
I believe that children are naturally curious about the world around them. They actively explore and observe their environment with their friends and adults to discover why things happen and how things work. It is our role as educators to support and provide the right environment. The environment we live in also influences our image and understanding of children within our multicultural community. I believe that an environment that supports warm and positive relationships with others will allow children to develop and grow into individuals of good character who are keen to help and contribute to the well-being of others.
My First Skool @ Blk 85 Whampoa Drive participates actively in various community projects such as Start Small Dream Big, an initiative by ECDA to help children learn moral values and impart positive behaviours and the National Gallery of Singapore to inculcate arts and aesthetics appreciation. We were awarded Innovation Grants projects to ensure that children learn from various platforms and experiences. This can be ascertained by the fact that My First Skool @ Blk 85 Whampoa Drive had also achieved SPARK Certification with Progress in Teaching and Learning Practices in 2016. We also collaborated with Primary School, National Library Board, NParks and other community partners to make learning meaningful and joyful for our children.
My team and I will strive with our best abilities to provide good quality care and education for children with strong trusting relationships and partnerships with parents.
