I am currently leading My First Skool at Parkway Parade as a Principal. During my 13 years of teaching and mentoring experience, I have attained a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education and Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Leadership. My First Skool at Parkway Parade has a capacity of 126 children ranging from 18 months to 6 years old. The centre has achieved Platinum Tier in the Healthy Pre-school Accreditation and is SPARK accredited. We work closely with parents in planning various activities such festive celebrations, centre events and termly take- home activities.
As a leader, I believe in building relationship with staffs, children and parents. I believe that in having an open communication, all stakeholders will be able to build trust and partner the centre in creating a safe and engaging learning experience for the children. I believe that change is constant, and growth is a result of change.
With this in mind, I believe that it is important for a centre to constantly question traditional or established practices in order to innovate and develop new knowledge teaching practices in engaging with young minds. I strongly believe that professional developmental growth for staffs is very important. I must remain cognisant of the significance of personal professional development. It is a means of creating opportunities that sustain individual and centre practices.
Today our centre has great continuous partnership with various community partners such as National Gallery Singapore, St Lukes’ Elder Care Centre, Marine Parade National Library and primary schools to enrich and extend our children’s learning beyond the classroom.
