Edgefield Plains 2 opened its doors in 2016 with a unique niche of Arts Integration. We collaborate closely with the National Arts Council to plan and implement arts integrated experiences for the children, which is embedded and integrated into the school curriculum.
As the leader of the centre, I believe that arts integration enables children to better develop holistically. It provides children with hands-on learning experiences whilst keeping their attention sustained and learning heightened.
To witness the children grow and develop into healthy individuals is heartwarming for me. I believe in working closely with my team to help children uncover their strengths and practise new skills to enhance every area of their development. This prepares them to go out into the world with a rich blend of confidence and capability.
Learning is a lifelong journey that continues beyond the classroom. We acknowledge that preschool years are the crucial stages where children learn to build their character and maximise their fullest potential. Therefore, it is important to introduce and expose the children to various community partners to build on and enhance learning. Children will be able to grasp life values through the experiences they have, participating in the events together with their parents and families in partnership and collaboration with the community partners.
Edgefield Plains 2 has also celebrated many successful events! Our esteemed Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong visited us in 2017. Our centre and centre staff were featured in National Day rallies being the first preschool collaborating with National Arts Council on our successful integration of arts in our curriculum. We have also attained our SPARK accreditation in 2018!
